Wasureranneyo's new single 'Nannmo Nee' to open anime 'Yani Neko'

The Japanese rock band Wasureranneyo will provide the opening theme for the upcoming TV anime 'Yani Neko'. The new song, titled 'Nannmo Nee', will be released digitally on July 2, the same day the anime premieres.

A promotional video for the anime was released, featuring a preview of the song. The band's frontman, Shibata Takahiro, is a fan of the original manga. He wrote the track specifically for the adaptation.

Wasureranneyo stated this is their first anime tie-up in over a decade. In a comment, Shibata described the song as one only they could write, reflecting the flawed, relatable characters of 'Yani Neko'. The anime follows the lazy, smoke-filled daily life of a humanoid cat in a world where humans and beast-people coexist.

The band, which debuted in 2011 with an ending theme for the anime 'Kaiji', has declared a goal of performing at the Nippon Budokan in 2028. They have upcoming tour dates scheduled in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo this August.

The ending theme for 'Yani Neko' will be performed by Nekuraitokii. The anime will be directed by Kimura Taku at Studio Lemon, with music composed by Suzuki Keiichi. It is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on July 2, with streaming to follow on various platforms.
