'Witch and Mercenary' Light Novel Gets 2027 TV Anime

The popular light novel series Witch and Mercenary (Majo to Yōhei) will be adapted into a TV anime set to air on Nippon TV in 2027. The series has sold over 1.5 million copies.

The anime will be directed by Shinpei Ezaki (known for 86), with series composition by Daishiro Tanimura. Animation production is handled by studio 8bit.

Saori Hayami will voice the witch Shiasya, and Taito Ban will voice the mercenary Jig.

The story follows Jig, a powerful mercenary with no magical ability, who is hired by Shiasya, a feared and solitary witch, to escort her to a place where she cannot be pursued. Their journey begins after a brutal confrontation.

A pre-release voice drama supervised by the original author is now available on the official website and the Bandai Namco Filmworks YouTube channel. A series of short stories will also be published online ahead of the anime's broadcast.
