kiOra debuts with 'Coco' MV, premiered at HEAD IN THE CLOUDS LA

New girl group kiOra released their debut single 'Coco' on August 8. The music video premiered at the HEAD IN THE CLOUDS Music & Arts Festival in Los Angeles before its YouTube upload.

The track features production from her0ism (BLACKPINK's LISA, XG), Yaeji (Charli XCX, Dua Lipa), Mechatok (SEVENTEEN, FKA twigs), Okayama Kanata (BTS, Namie Amuro), and Chelsea Warner (EXO, (G)I-DLE). The group describes their sound as 'TOKYO HYPER CITY POP,' a fusion of hyperpop and city pop.

Director Riku Ozama combined Japanese elements with unexpected concepts. The video features a conveyor-belt sushi runway alongside motifs like tatami mats and sento baths.

"I wanted to multiply very Japanese scenery and elements, like the sushi lane and the runway, with different elements to create a sense of discomfort and an iconic visual that you've never seen before," Ozama said.

Members Oto, Kyla, Ruka, and YU watched the premiere with the festival audience. "I was moved by the MV packed with the charm of kiOra and Japanese culture," Oto said. Kyla added that seeing it on the large screen was emotional.

The group is scheduled to perform at the Bangkok Japan Expo 2026 in Thailand on August 29.

The single 'Coco' is available on streaming platforms via orcd.co.
