YOASOBI Releases Theme Song 'Sakihokore' for Morning Drama

YOASOBI released their new song "Sakihokore" today. The track serves as the theme song for the NHK morning drama series "Blossom." The official music video premieres at 8 PM JST on YouTube.

The song is based on an original novel, "Sakura no Inochi wa Fumetsu Nari" (The Life of the Cherry Blossom is Immortal), written by award-winning author Risa Wataya. The novel was commissioned specifically for this project and draws inspiration from the life of Chiyo Uno, the real-life writer who inspired the drama's protagonist.

Composer Ayase, who hails from the same Yamaguchi Prefecture as Uno, visited her former home and other significant locations while writing the music. The production marks YOASOBI's first recording with a live orchestra. Choir vocals, stomps, and hand claps were also recorded live.

The music video is directed by Ai Nina, the artist behind YOASOBI's debut video "Yoru ni Kakeru" and many of their subsequent visual works. Co-director Narihiro Kariya, known for his work on popular anime series, collaborated on the project. The fully animated video depicts a story inspired by Wataya's novel and the life of Chiyo Uno.

The single "Sakihokore" is available now on global streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The song was written, composed, and arranged by Ayase, with vocals by ikura.
