Iwamoto Senpai no Suisen Anime Sets July 4 Premiere, Reveals Theme Songs

The TV anime adaptation of Hiroshi Shiibashi's manga Iwamoto Senpai no Suisen will premiere on July 4, 2026. The production committee announced the opening and ending theme artists and two new cast members.

The opening theme, "BUDDING," will be performed by the 10-member dance and vocal group THE JET BOY BANGERZ. The song is written by Saori Kodama and composed by Kengo Minamida. The group debuted in 2023 from LDH's large-scale audition 'iCON Z'.

WOLF HOWL HARMONY will perform the ending theme, "Koko ni Iru." The four-member vocal and rap group, also formed from the 'iCON Z' audition, released their latest EP "tera" in March 2026. The song is written and composed by ☆Taku Takahashi.

Two additional characters and their voice actors were confirmed. Sasa Meguru, a second-year student at Suho Middle School who is always accompanied by rain, will be voiced by Gen Sato. Awadama Mizuka, a first-year who loves Japanese dolls, will be voiced by Shinnosuke Tokudome.

The anime is set in 1910s Japan. It follows third-year student Iwamoto Kodo, who investigates supernatural phenomena across the country on behalf of the Imperial Japanese Army, seeking individuals with usable abilities for a special military school.

Directed by Toshifumi Kawase at Studio DEEN, the series will air on TOKYO MX and Sun TV. The original manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi has been serialized in Ultra Jump since 2021.
