HTC Launches Virtual Idol Audition Show 'VPOP ASIA' with Kson

HTC's content division VIVE ORIGINALS has launched a new virtual idol audition program, 'VPOP ASIA.' The show features 15 virtual trainees performing new arrangements of 120 C-pop songs from the last three decades.

Taiwanese host Lulu leads the program, marking her first time sharing a stage with virtual co-hosts. The production blends motion-captured virtual character performances with a live band and real-world judges.

VIVE ORIGINALS General Manager Liu Szu-Ming stated the goal is to create a "fast pass" for Taiwanese virtual entertainment to reach a global audience. "What we are doing is not recreating nostalgia, but creating the future," Liu said.

The show includes 29 musicians and artists from the Chinese music scene as rotating judges. Popular VTuber Kson appears as a special guest.

'VPOP ASIA' began airing on Taiwan's TVBS channel and the CATCHPLAY+ OTT platform on July 18. Full episodes will be available globally on the official VPOP ASIA YouTube and Twitch channels starting July 23 at 21:00 Japan Time.
