Ken Matsudaira Voices Himself in 'Matsuken Anime' YouTube Series

Ken Matsudaira will voice an animated version of himself in the new YouTube series 'Matsuken Anime ~Kore Seibai Shitemo Ii Desu ka?~'. The series premieres August 29, 2026.

The project is based on the 'Matsuken Samba' character. In the short-form anime, Matsuken and his partner, a dog named Matsuinu, tackle everyday frustrations with a comedic touch.

Voice actors Sumire Uesaka and Daisuke Namikawa join the cast. Uesaka voices the sharp-tongued Matsuinu. Namikawa will voice the various characters who appear each episode.

"I was surprised when I heard the idea," Matsudaira said in a statement. "I never thought a character based on me would become an anime." He noted it was his first time playing a version of himself.

"Matsuinu is a very expressive and lively character. I performed with the aim of making the work even more enjoyable," Uesaka said.

Namikawa, whose voice work includes roles in 'Lupin the Third' and 'Haikyu.', will play a different character in each story. "The characters that appear each have their own frustrations," he said.

The series will be distributed on the official Matsuken Anime YouTube channel. Kayac Akiba Studio, part of the production committee, handles character design and animation.
