YOSHIKI Joins Diana Ross On Stage for Surprise Performance in Japan

YOSHIKI made a surprise appearance at Diana Ross's concert at K Arena Yokohama on May 23. The performance was a last-minute addition, with YOSHIKI flying to Japan the same day after a direct invitation from Ross herself.

Diana Ross introduced YOSHIKI to a packed arena. "We have a very, very, very special guest for you tonight," she said before welcoming him to the stage. The two artists embraced before performing Ross's 1988 ballad, "If We Hold On Together."

YOSHIKI played the song on his signature crystal piano. Midway through, Ross requested an extended version, prompting YOSHIKI to improvise a longer arrangement.

After the show, the two artists spoke backstage. YOSHIKI mentioned his upcoming July concerts at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, to which Ross replied, "I'm coming to your Disney Hall concert."

"I am currently in Los Angeles rehearsing and preparing for my Disney Hall concert in July," YOSHIKI said. "When Diana Ross reached out, I was deeply honored and came to Japan immediately."

On June 1, he will receive the Medal of Honor from the Entertainment Community Fund at a gala in New York, where he is also scheduled to perform.

His two-night concert event, "YOSHIKI CLASSICAL 2026," is set for July 16 and 17 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The shows follow his third neck surgery in 2024 and an extended rehabilitation period.

Diana Ross's Japan tour concluded with a performance at Osaka-Jo Hall on May 25.
