Shintaro Kago's 'Blood Harvest' Wins Eisner Award for Best Short Story

Manga artist Shintaro Kago’s short horror story 'Blood Harvest' won the Eisner Award for Best Short Story at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

The story is part of the English-language collection 'BRAIN DAMAGE,' published by Fantagraphics in 2025. The original Japanese collection, 'ブレインダメージ (Brain Damage),' was published by Wanibooks in 2017.

The 'Brain Damage' collection is available globally in digital format on Amazon Kindle. It contains four stories, including the nominated 'Curse Room' and the award-winning 'Blood Harvest.'
