Samurai Pizza Cats Game Demo Set for Tokyo Game Show World Premiere

A playable demo for the new game Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! will debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The demo will be available at the Red Dunes Games booth in Hall 7 from September 17-21.

The game is based on the 1990-1991 anime Kyatto Ninden Teyandee, known internationally as Samurai Pizza Cats. It is being developed by Dutch studio Blast Zero and published by UAE-based Red Dunes Games for worldwide distribution. A Steam page is already live.

The TGS demo features 2D action gameplay where players can switch between the three main characters. It includes newly animated cutscenes created to match the style of the original 90s anime. The Japanese script was handled by Satoshi Akahori, who was the series composer for the original TV series.

The voice cast from a previous 2025 teaser trailer returns, including Kappei Yamaguchi as Yattarou, Seiichiro Yamashita as Sukashii, Ai Orikasa as Pururun, and Kenyu Horiuchi as the narrator. They are joined by new cast members Kouichi Yamadera as Karamaru and Satomi Koorogi as Otama.

Yamadera noted his surprise at being able to play Karamaru again after 35 years, praising the new animation. Akahori called the project a "miracle."

The original teaser trailer, released in February 2025, surpassed 1 million combined views on YouTube. The game's full title is Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! (Kyatto Ninden Teyandee: Fukkatsu no Nyankii! Yappari Ashita wa Nippon Bare!).

The game is scheduled for a global release on Steam.
