Shota Sometani Film 'Haiyoshin' Premieres on Prime Video October 7

Japanese film Haiyoshin will begin exclusive streaming on Amazon Prime Video from October 7, 2026.

The film stars Shota Sometani as Dr. Urushibara, director of a day care clinic. He develops a radical new treatment for elderly patients with paralyzed limbs deemed beyond recovery. The procedure, aimed at creating cost-effective care, reportedly leads to unexpected positive side effects like improved mood and lightness.

An editor hears rumors of the treatment and approaches Urushibara about publishing a book on this potential revolution in geriatric medicine. The situation unravels after an internal clinic whistleblower leaks information to a weekly magazine, followed by a shocking incident at a patient's home.

The film is based on the novel by doctor-author Yo Kusakabe. Kōki Yoshida directs and wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Yukiya Kitamura, Kumi Takiuchi, Tetsumasa Hirosu, Eriko Nakamura, Tomo Nakai, and Mutsuo Yoshioka.
